摘要
The performance of newly developed titanium carbonitride coatings in cutting and forming operations is discussed, specifically in comparison with titanium nitride. It is shown that titanium carbonitride is to be recommended when abrasion is the main wear mechanism, though it also has advantages in reducing adhesive wear. When interrupted cutting is encountered, titanium nitride coatinhs are shown to be preferable. © 1990.
