摘要：

The surfaces and volumes of seven fixed brains (10% Formalin) of adult humans, aged 35 to 62, have been determined by means of integrative methods. 1. As to the surfaces, the following average values have been found: a) Total surface of cortex cerebri 2500 cm2, b) visible surface of cortex cerebri 884 cm2, and c) total surface of cortex cerebelli 1070 cm2. 2. The total human brain is composed of 47% cortex cerebri, 34% album cerebri, 1.7% ventricle, 4.4% Zentralkomplex (basal ganglia, globus pallidus, thalamus and capsula interna), 10.6% cerebellum and 2.4% for all othe parts. 3. Basing on these results, an average thickness of cortex of 2.87 mm was calculated as well as the index of folding (relation of total to visible surface), which is 2.81. © 1969 Springer-Verlag.
