摘要
A new technology was developed for manufacturing cylindrical proportional chambers (''straw chambers'') from polyimide films. Properties of such chambers, which seem to have a number of advantages, are discussed. Excellent radiation hardness and mechanical properties makes it possible to use these chambers as tracking devices in collider experiments.
