INFLUENCE OF MOTHERS MILK AND COWS MILK ON ICTERUS NEONATORUM OF PREMATURE BABIES

As observation of the serum-bilirubin concentrations in comparable groups of 6 and 12 premature babies each fed with mother's milk and Humana-O milk respectively shows in the weight-classes of 1000-1500 g. and 1501-2000 g. the bilirubin values of the babies on mother's milk as compared to the ones of the babies on Humana-O are significantly raised from the 5th day on. Irrespective of the type of the nourishment in the comparable groups the highest bilirubin value is reached on the 5th day. © 1968 Springer-Verlag.
