SYNTHESIS OF LITAO3 IN SELF-PROPAGATING HIGH-TEMPERATURE WAVE

Experimental temperature profiles are obtained for LiTaO3 synthesis from a batch containing Li2O3, Ta2O5, and Ta powder in a self-propagating high-temperature wave; the pressure of the argon atmosphere varies from 0.5 to 4.0 MPa. The reaction-zone parameters are found, and profiles of the heat-liberation rate and the completeness of the reaction in the wave are plotted. The results obtained yield insight into the mechanism of LiTaO3 synthesis.
