The a.c. electrical conductivity vs temperature and differential scanning calorimetry plots of K(x)Tl(l-x)I and Cs(x)Ti(l-x)I for 0 less-than-or-equal-to x less-than-or-equal-to 0.13 are reported. The high conductivity alpha-phase of TlI was preserved at room temperature by incorporating 7.5 mol% CsI in the TlI lattice whereas no such effect was observed for up to 13.0 mol% KI in TlI. The conductivity data and Q(c) values, while sensitive to sample history, pretreatment and compostion, show reproducibility. The mechanism for stabilization of the alpha-TlI CsCl structure is interpreted in terms of stronger bonding between the more electropositive Cs+ and I- than that between Tl+ and I- consistent with the earlier interpretation for similar behavior observed with Rb+ in TlI.
