摘要
Histological and cytological changes in the blood after infection with a granulosis virus were studied in larvae of the armyworm, Pseudaletia unipuncta. These changes were compared with the effects of injections of virus capsules and with the changes known to accompany phagocytosis by blood cells in this species. All observations support the hypothesis that virus capsules in the hemocytes of granulosis-diseased larvae are phagocytized, and they indicate that the capsules were treated by the blood cells as inert particles. In armyworms diseased with nuclear polyhedrosis, a substantial percentage of hemocytes (up to 20% of total circulating cells) phagocytized polyhedra after they had appeared in the hemolymph. Other blood cells (up to 20% of total circulating cells) developed the disease in their nuclei. © 1968.
