摘要
Bacillus subtilis rec-assay was applied to water samples from Lake Biwa and the Yodo River which provide municipal drinking water sources for 14 million people in the basin. DNA toxicity of the water samples concentrated with XAD-2 resins, was evaluated in terms of Rec-volume. DNA toxicity increased toward downstream indicating strong potential of DNA toxicity almost equivalent to that of standard substances such as MNNG, 4NQO etc.. Micropollution of hydrophobic substances needs more attention for the safety of ecosystems as well as drinking water. The rec-assay also provided information on cytotoxicity of the hydrophobic micropollutants to the test bacteria.
