HEAVY-METAL DETERMINATION AND SPECIATION - ANODIC-STRIPPING VOLTAMMETRY EMPLOYING MICROELECTRODES

摘要
We describe the preparation of mercury microelectrodes for application to speciation studies of heavy metals in natural waters. The mercury electrodes have a radius of 5 μm and are applicable to anodic stripping voltammetry in solutions with or without intentionally added electrolyte. However, naturally occurring salts could be an important interference for ASV measurements in untreated samples. Electrode size has no significant influence on the portion of lead detected when the metal is in equilibrium with humic acid, a naturally occurring complexing agent. However, the electrolyte concentration affects the portion of metal described as electrochemically labile. © 1993 Academic Press. All rights reserved.
