摘要
The loess cover in the region of Middachten near Arnhem is of the Last Glacial Age. An investigation of four profile-pits showed that, during the deposition of the loess, tundra soils with a thin Bt-horizon were formed. Solifluction and fresh deposits on these soils resulted in the formation of a series of loess layers, each showing more or less strongly developed flowstructures as well as remnants of Bt-horizons disturbed by the subsequent flowage-phenomena. Several of these profiles show fragipan-characteristics. The authors suggest a close relation between the formation of the fragipans and the occurrence of periglacial tundra climates. © 1969.
