ON THE PREDICTION OF SEPARATION FACTOR AND PERMEABILITY IN THE SEPARATION OF BINARY-MIXTURES BY PERVAPORATION

摘要
A modification of the existing Fels and Huang model for the prediction of the separation factors and permeabilities for a binary mixture is developed. The model is based on extension of the free volume theory and introduction of Flory-Huggins thermodynamics for calculations of the binary interaction parameter and the diffusion coefficients. This model is tested by using data available in the literature, and calculated data from this model are compared with the experimental data. The calculated permeabilities of each component are much closer to the experimental values than those from the Fels and Huang model.
