摘要
The subject of this work is the mechanism of intergranular oxide joint formation in uncompacted nickel powder layers oxidized in air at 400-800°C. Six kinds of nickel powder of different grain sizes and shapes were investigated. The strength of intergranular joints depends on the size of the contact area between oxide layers of adjacent grains. It is a function of time and temperature of oxidation and the size, shape, and morphology of the grains. On the interface between any two contacting oxide layers a grain-boundary-like zone is formed, which is responsible for the cohesion in the intergranular joints. © 1990.
