摘要
A single crystal X-ray diffraction study performed on pyrite-like Ir3Te8 indicates that this compound has rhombohedral symmetry. Magnetic measurements were performed to determine the formal 3 + oxidation state of Ir. This value aided in explaining the interatomic distances of our structure determination. Ir3Te8 has been found to belong to a polymeric-type structure, with a tridimensional network made of interlinked Te2 pairs. The results are compared with pyrite-like MTe2 (M = Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Ru, Rh, and Os). © 1991.
