EFFICIENT ABSORBING BOUNDARY-CONDITIONS FOR THE FINITE-ELEMENT SOLUTION OF 3D SCATTERING PROBLEMS

摘要
3D finite element formulations for scattering problem in unbounded space are presented. Absorbing boundary conditions deduced from Sommerfeld radiation boundary condition and Bayliss-Turkel radiation boundary condition are joined to Maxwell's equations. The variational formulation is discretized with H(curl) finite elements (edge elements) and leads to symmetric matrices for which a diagonal preconditioned bi conjugate gradient (PBCG) is used. The numerical method is tested in the scattering by a perfectly conducting sphere.
