摘要
Changes in the area of the photospheric magnetic network over the sunspot cycle have been put forward as the "missing component" required to explain the 11 yr variation of total solar irradiance observed by spaceborne radiometers. We show that this explanation is consistent with recent measurements of the photometric contrast of magnetic faculae and with our measurement of the network area change during cycle 21.
