The rotational structure of the (2,0) vibrational band of the A2PI(u)-X2SIGMA(g)+ System of N2+ has been studied under Doppler-limited resolution by Laser Optogalvanic Spectroscopy (LOGS) using a Ti:sapphire laser. Numerous new high-N rotational transitions, as well as new subbands, have been observed and measured with an absolute accuracy of 0.007 cm-1, leading to improved molecular parameters. Rotational and kinetic temperatures have also been determined in pure N2 and Ar/N2 plasmas. (C) 1994 Academic Press, Inc.
