摘要
A method for predicting the equilibrium electrode gap in electrochemical machining for both rectilinear and radial flows is presented. The describing system of coupled, nonlinear, differential equations is solved to obtain simple algebraic expressions for the distribution of void fraction, temperature, electrolyte velocity, and electrode gap thickness. These formulae will serve the tool and production engineer as convenient rules of thumb. Calculated electrode gaps are compared with experimental data and good agreement is obtained. A discussion of certain limitations to the ECM process is presented, and a practical approach for resolving the heterogeneous conduction problem is also suggested. © 1969.
