摘要
Results are given of a combined theoretical and experimental investigation of helicon propagation in a plasma. The theory is for a non-uniform, resistive, cylindrical plasma, and includes the effect of electron inertia. The experimental frequency range is 0.1 Omega e<or approximately= omega <or approximately=0.5 Omega e, and the effect of the electron cyclotron resonance is clearly seen even at the lowest frequencies. Excellent agreement is obtained between theory and experiment.
