To explore the dynamic environment of the U.S. health care system, Health Affairs posed the following question to several industry and academic leaders: What, in your view, is the future of private health insurance in the United States? The responses to this question are presented in this Perspectives section. They range from a futuristic 'what-if?' scenario, to the views of insurance industry insiders, to a trade unionist's resounding call for reform and accountability.
