摘要
Exhaust emissions from a fuel-injected, Otto engine equipped car driven according to the U. S. Federal Test Procedure (FTP-73) were characterized chemically and by mutagenicity tests. Four fuel qualities of different polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) content were used. Emission variables investigated were regulated pollutants (CO, unburned hydrocarbons, NO//x), particle emissions, emission of particle and gas phase associated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, aldehyde emissions, emissions of benzene, toluene, ethene, and propene, and mutagenicity in particle and gas phases. From the results obtained concerning fuel-dependent exhaust emissions, it could be concluded that a linear relationship existed between input through fuel and output through the exhaust emission for certain individual PAH. Additional study results are discussed.
