摘要
Surface and crystallographic structures of carbon tips prepared from a glassy carbon fiber are clarified by field-ion and electron microscopies. It is found that geometrical smoothness of the surface is characterized by the fine structure of the glassy carbon, which consists of tangled ribbon-like graphite crystals and micropores. The mechanism of change in the surface structure under an electric field is discussed. © 1979.
