EFFECT OF LONG-TERM LITHIUM TREATMENT ON RESERPINE-INDUCED SUPER-SENSITIVITY IN DOPAMINERGIC AND SEROTONERGIC TRANSMISSION

摘要
The effect of chronic lithium treatment on reserpine-induced supersensitivity in dopaminergic and serotonergic transmission was examined. Dopaminergic and serotonergic receptor activities were investigated employing apomorphine-induced stereotypic behavior in rats and 5-methoxy DMT-induced head twitches in mice, respectively. Reserpine increased the responsiveness to both dopaminergic and serotonergic receptor stimulations. Chronic lithium pretreatment enhanced the reserpine-elicited sensitization of both transmitter systems. © 1979.
