CORRECTION OF MALIGNANT HYPERTENSION AND RETURN OF RENAL FUNCTION FOLLOWING LATE RENAL ARTERY EMBOLECTOMY

This case report illustrates restoration of renal function and correction of malignant hypertension by late renal artery embolectomy. A positive relationship between elevated blood angiotensin levels and hypertension is established. Despite a prolonged period of eight weeks between the time of embolism and surgery, renal function eventually returned. Late renal artery embolectomy may result in return of renal function and correction of malignant hypertension in carefully selected cases. © 1969.
