The phenomenon of the imbibition of metal melts by a sintered pore-free composition consisting of refractory particles and a binder is described from a thermodynamic point of view. The results of experiments on metal melt migration in the volume of sintered bodies are presented and phenomenological analysis of the process is given. © 1990.
