AN ANALYSIS OF FINITE ELASTIC-PLASTIC DEFORMATION UNDER BIAXIAL COMPRESSION

摘要
Plane strain compression experiment using rectangular specimens is widely used in the study of finite plasticity. A theoretical analysis of this experimental configuration is needed which takes into consideration the elastic strain of the specimen and the stiffness of the apparatus. This elastic-plastic analysis is provided in this paper. The elastic strain of the specimen and the deformation of the experimental apparatus have significant effects on the explanation of some of the experimental results. It has been shown that the classical Prandtl-Reuss equations fail to provide satisfactory predictions of the experimental results even after inclusion of the two above-mentioned elastic deformations.
