摘要
We present a rather simple model which permits to study the transverse pattern of the instability that appears above a certain threshold when two beams counterpropagate through a passive nonlinear medium. This model circumvents in particular the difficult treatment of the boundary conditions of the original problem. It allows to explain the apparition of hexagonal patterns for the instability and highlights the similarities and the differences with hydrodynamics problems.
