STRUCTURE OF AN ICOSAHEDRAL PALLADIUM PARTICLE

摘要
Multiply twinned particles are commonly found in many materials. Among them, icosahedral particles are particularly interesting because of the presence of five-fold symmetry axes. When their size is small, no defects are present and the presence of internal strains leads to a distortion of the structure of the material. These particles have been studied using 400 kV high resolution electron microscopy along two different orientations. The results are in agreement with those obtained by image calculations from the model consisting of 20 uniformly strained tetrahedrons. © 1990.
