CORRELATION OF THE CHROMATOGRAPHIC ELUTING STRENGTH OF SOLVENTS WITH SOLVENT POLARITY AND POLARIZABILITY PARAMETERS

摘要
The Snyder P' measure of solvent eluting strength in bonded-phase chromatography (BPC) correlates well with the pi* and delta-solvatochromic parameters with no dependence on either the a hydrogen bond donor strength parameter, the molar volume, or the beta-hydrogen bond acceptor strength parameter. Furthermore, the correlation of P' with pi* and delta is much better than the correlation of P' with E(NR) (energy of the electronic transition of Nile Red) which had been proposed as a measure of solvent eluting strength in BPC.
