Results are reported in 160 cases subjected to a swing-door myringoplasty and evaluated one to five years postoperatively. The fascial graft closed the perforation permanently in 149 patients (9Sro), while in seven a slit-like anterior perforation persisted, and in four the repaired drum perforated anew in less than six months postoperatively. It is emphasized that only dry ears without stigmata of tympanic disease are suitable for myringoplasty. In the presence of signs for tympanic disease, more radical procedures are needed. © 1969, SAGE Publications. All rights reserved.
