PARENTAL PRESENCE AND EMOTIONAL STATE OF CHILDREN PRIOR TO SURGERY

Among 144 pediatric patients, the presence of parents prior to elective surgery had no demonstrable favorable effect on the preoperative emotional state of children. Indeed, there was more crying among children whose parents roomed-in than among whose who had no parental contact.
