FRACTIONATION OF DEXTRAN AND HYALURONIC ACID ON POROUS SILICA BEADS

摘要
The evaluation of porous silica beads in the fractionation of polysaccharides in aqueous solution by molecular size is described. Beads having pore sizes in two different ranges have been calibrated for dextran, and another pore-size range has been calibrated for hyaluronic acid. The effect of sample concentration, flow rate, and temperature on the elution curves is examined, and the distribution of molecular weight for a dextran sample determined. The advantages of porous silica beads over an organic molecular-sieve material, due to their rigidity and chemical inertness, are discussed. © 1969.
