PROPERTIES OF AN INCLINED DOUBLE CRYSTAL MONOCHROMATOR FOR SYNCHROTRON RADIATION

In this paper the properties of the inclined double crystal X-ray monochromator for synchrotron radiation (SR) are discussed. As was shown earlier, the main advantage of the inclined monochromator is that the power density of the incident SR (and consequently the heat load problem) may be significantly reduced. It is shown theoretically that from the point of view of diffraction itself its function for practical inclination angles should be similar to a symmetrically diffracting double crystal monochromator. The distortion of the SR beam during diffraction is also studied.
