VIBRATIONAL SPECTRUM AND STRUCTURE OF SOLID TLAU(CN)2

The IR spectrum between 33 and 3000 cm-1 and the Raman spectrum of polycrystalline TlAu(CN)2 are reported. The spectra indicate that there is a significant non-ionic interaction between the Tl and Au atoms, but that the Au(CN)2 group is linear or nearly so. The site symmetry of the Au(CN)2 group is D2 C2v or lower, and there is a possibility that these groups may be situated on two or more non-equivalent sites. © 1967.
