COMPARATIVE-ANALYSIS OF TAU-LEPTON DECAY AND ELECTRON-POSITRON ANNIHILATION

摘要
It has been suggested that the hadronic decays of the τ lepton provide a good testbed for the study of QCD. To implement this successfully it is essential to be assured that individual hadronic channels are well understood and that none has been omitted. A detailed and critical comparison is made of the hadronic τ decays via the vector current with complementary information from e+e- annihilation. This serves to specify the vector channels. A similar study is made of the hadronic τ-lepton decays via the axial-vector current. It is shown to be possible to obtain a solution which is consistent with QCD calculations. Attention is drawn to data which need improvement to increase the efficacy of the present test. © 1995 The American Physical Society.
