The flash photolysis-resonance fluorescence technique has been employed to study the kinetics of the combination reaction OH + NO2 + M → HNO3 + M. A total of 57 bimolecular rate constants are reported for varying conditions of temperature (247-352 K), pressure (14-700 torr), and diluent gas identity (He, Ar, N2, SF6). These new rate data are compared with previous measurements, and their significance to atmospheric chemistry and unimolecular rate theory is discussed. © 1979 American Chemical Society.
