DETERMINATION OF THE STRUCTURE OF ARCO2 BY RADIOFREQUENCY AND MICROWAVE SPECTROSCOPY

摘要
The species ArCO2 produced by adiabatic expansion is structurally characterized by molecular beam electric resonance spectroscopy. ArCO2 is shown to have C2v symmetry. The spectroscopic constants obtained are: A0 11914(80) MHz B0 1979.87(25) MHz C0 1682.75(70) MHz τaaaa -15.97 kHz τbbbb -98.3(20) kHz τaabb 0.0 τabab -907.(120) kHz The derived structural constants for ArCO2 are: R0 3.493(10) Å ks 0.0174(5) Mdyne/Å ωs 37.5(7) cm-1 kb 0.0083(10) Mdyne/Å ωb 27.5(20) cm-1 μ 0.06793(20) D Comparison is made with a number of proposed Ar-CO2 intermolecular potentials. The determined force constants are shown to be poorly fitted by a spherical argon-oxygen interaction. © 1979 American Institute of Physics.
