COMPLEXATION OF H+ AND D+ BY CROWN ETHERS IN PROPYLENE CARBONATE

摘要
The complexation of H+ and D+ by different macrocyclic polyethers in propylene carbonate solutions has been studied by means of potentiometric and calorimetric titrations. The most stable complex for both ions is observed with 18-crown-6 (log K = 6.35, DELTA-H = 58.1 kJ mol-1, T-DELTA-S = -22.1 kJ mol-1). The smaller crown ether 15-crown-5 and the benzo substituted 18-crown-6 ethers form less stable complexes (15C5: log K = 3.32; B18C6: log K = 4.82, DB18C6: log K = 3.32). The stability constants and the thermodynamic parameters for the complexation of both ions are nearly identical.
