Reaction of Li2(tmtaa) (tmtaa = dibenzotetramethyl-tetraaza[14]annulene) tetraaza[14]annulene) with GeCl2.dioxane, SnCl2, GaCl3, and InCl3 affords the complexes Ge(tmtaa) (1), Sn(tmtaa) (3), Ga(tmtaa)Cl (5), and In(tmtaa)-Cl (6), respectively. The structures of 1, 3, and 5 have been determined by X-ray analysis. Compounds 1 and 3 react with (THF)Cr(CO)5 to produce the bimetallic derivatives (tmtaa)MCr(CO)5 (2, M = Ge; 4, M = Sn). The Ga-Cl bond of 5 is very unreactive; however, 6 will undergo slow reaction with MeLi to afford In(tmtaa)Me (7).
