Expressions are presented for the probability density function (p. d. f. ) of a sum of spherically symmetric random vectors plus a Gaussian vector in n-dimensional space. Expressions are also found for the p. d. f. and distribution function (d. f. ) of the length of this sum and of the projection of this sum onto 1-dimensional space. All of these expressions are series expansions involving only the moments of the length of the sum of the spherically symmetric vectors. These moments can be found from recurrence relations also derived in the paper. Some computations of the p. d. f. 'S and d. f. 's are presented for the 2- and 3-dimensional cases, and an application to coherent phase-shift-keying communications systems is discussed.
