NITROUS OXIDE TRANSFER FROM MOTHER TO FETUS IN SHEEP AND GOATS

摘要
Following administration of nitrous oxide to maternal sheep and goats, the uterine and umbilical circulations were sampled repeatedly at selected intervals and the N2O levels in the blood of the fetus in utero compared with those of the mother. Additional measurements were made on amniotic and allantoic fluids. The results demonstrated that the concentrations of nitrous oxide in the uterine and umbilical veins were nearly equal under good physiologic conditions. These observations agree with the hypothesis that the placentas of sheep and goats simulate concurrent exchange systems. © 1969.
