摘要
Adsorption of SO2 from an air mixture onto activated carbons has been studied at 358 K using thermogravimetric analysis. The activated carbons used were obtained by treating carbonized olive stones for different periods of time in flowing CO2. It is shown that the activation increased the basicity of the surface of the carbons, which increased the amount of SO2 chemisorbed. After the first adsorption cycle, the amount of SO2 adsorbed decreased but remained substantially the same during the second and third cycles and independent of the sample used. Finally, the diffusion parameters of the adsorption process were calculated.
