摘要
As a frontier of materials research the author has proposed functional ceramics with intelligent mechanisms, to which the key words are self-diagnoses, self-adjustment, self-recovery, stand by, turning ability from outside, etc. Examples of intelligent ceramics and guiding principles to invest those materials are given. A typical case is to set a p-n contact between CuO and ZnO, giving rise to a humidity sensor with self recovery mechanism and a carbon monoxide sensor with turning capability. © 1990, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
