摘要：

The Simon Fraser AMS spectrometer operated at McMaster University for a period of about ten years. This instrument was unique in that the isotope beams of interest were injected into the accelerator simultaneously rather than sequentially, using an achromatic multimagnet injector. As well, our group has also been involved in the design and operation of the LLNL spectrometer, which uses a more conventional fast-pulsing sequential system. We compare our first-hand experience with the two systems and discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the different approaches.
