摘要
Hydroacoustic signals from the 1 kton CHASE V explosion detonated off Cape Mendocino, California, were recorded on hydrophones off the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand. Reverberation signals continued for about one hour after the main arrival. While most parts of this signal could be attributed in a general way to extensive underwater features, in some cases there were discrete arrivals that could be positively identified with specific topographical features in the south east of the Pacific Ocean. The travel time results indicate that essentially rectilinear transmission was involved even though the detonation and receiving points are separated by 10 000 km. © 1969, Acoustical Society of America.
