摘要
Evidence is presented that Rhizobium meliloti is able to fix nitrogen (as scored by acetylene reduction) while growing in the absence of a plant host. The highest nitrogen fixation rate was obtained when bacteria were grown in defined liquid medium under normal atmosphere in sealed tubes. The nitrogen fixation rates obtained are of the same order as those reported for other rhizobia. © 1979, Springer-Verlag New York Inc. All rights reserved.
