摘要
The adsorption of AB block copolymers of poly-2-vinyl pyridine/poly-tert-butyl styrene onto silica particles has been studied. The poly-2-vinyl pyridine adsorbs strongly to silica whilst the poly-tert-butyl styrene (which hardly adsorbs on silica) extends away from the particle surface. Adsorbance values of between 1.0 and 2.5 mg m-2 were measured. The colloidal stability of the silica dispersion following copolymer adsorption was also measured by a turbidimetric technique. All the copolymers imparted stability to the silica, the highest degree of stability being found with the lowest molecular weight copolymer. © 1990.
