摘要
1. 1. The cause of plateau formation in neurons poisoned by anemone toxin was investigated. 2. 2. Membrane resistance measurements in crustacean neurons disclosed low resistance plateaus. 3. 3. Sufficient transmembrane current pulses in hyperpolarizing direction terminated the plateaus. This current threshold showed a gradual decrease during the plateau. 4. 4. The shape of the plateaus was altered by changes in ionic composition of the perfusing medium. The effects were those expected if the plateaus were caused by the passage of residual sodium current. 5. 5. The simplest hypothesis in accordance with Hodgkin-Huxley theory seems to be that the toxin merely increases the time constant of sodium inactivation. © 1969.
