摘要：

The automation of water treatment plants has now become a necessity. It improves operation conditions, plant performance, assist supervision and reduces the risk of human error as well as improve the operational safety. In this paper a brief description of the existing conventional techniques as used for chemical control is given. The problems faced for the control loops design and the possible improvements that can be made to automate the water treatment processes are described.
