BREAKING THE REST PERIOD IN BLACK CURRANTS WITH GIBBERELLIC ACID AND LOW TEMPERATURE

摘要
A single application of gibberellic acid (GA) was successful in breaking the rest period of black currants in September, October and November, while chilling for 2 weeks was insufficient to be effective. The highest percentage of bud burst was obtained by GA application immediately after defoliation. Delay in GA application after defoliation decreased and delayed plant response because penetration of GA was hindered. Multiple and very early GA applications immediately after taking the plants into the glasshouse caused shedding of undeveloped buds.
