摘要
Ascorbic acid successfully protects serotonin from catalytic destruction by iron during fluorometric detection but amine stability is accompanied by diminished fluorescence. The reduction of fluorescence has been found to result from absorption of 295 mμ wavelength activation light and from quenching of serotonin fluorescence by ascorbic acid. Ascorbic acid in aqueous 3.5 N HCl was found to have molar absorptivity (ε) of 4.4 ± 0.1 (n = 6) and a quenching constant (kq) of 11.0 ± 0.2 (n = 8). © 1969.
